2008 Diversity Best Practices Research
Are you ahead of the curve?
The population and workforce grow more diverse every year. By 2050 only half of the labor force will be non-Hispanic Whites. Diversity practices, the management of our changing environment, are also constantly evolving. The practices that have served your company for years may now be holding you back. Success in diversity means knowing the strategies and solutions available and knowing how other companies are utilizing them.
Hodes Research conducted a survey among HR professionals to gain insight into their diversity best practices.
Some findings include:
- Half of respondents (51%) recruit from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, but only one quarter (28%) recruit from Hispanic Servicing Institutions, despite the fact that by 2050, Hispanic Americans will compose a quarter of the workforce.
- Most organizations stress diversity in some aspects, but only half (53%) include all dimensions of diversity (race, disability, sexual orientation, and veteran status).
- Only 12% have already established global diversity best practices, but two fifths (41%) are beginning to develop them.
The full Diversity Best Practices Research report contains not only further information on top strategies for sourcing and measuring diversity, but interpretation and implications of the data provided by Hodes Diversity Services VP, Annette Merritt Cummings.
